Older homes such as Dorval tend not to have bedrooms that function well for modern use. In this case we combined two smaller bedrooms in to one larger master in order to create ample closets and larger floor area that connected to a master ensuite bath.

The reclaimed element here is the staircase. Structurally sound, we painted the treads and risers in Benjamin Moore Iron Mountain. The upper railing needed to be custom built to match existing railing systems.

An old garage was demolished at the rear of the site and its cladding salvaged to clad the rear fence. The result is both visual interest and industrial eclecticism.

The low maintenance galvanized steel cladding contrasts with the Edwardian brick main structure, making it appear both large and distinctive. The clearstory window on the second floor lets natural light flood into the ensuite while maintaining total privacy. Finally, a simple, straight-lined deck compliments the modernist structure while providing a functional entertaining area.

Fireplace features 16x31" Kingsman linear fireplace with Vives Bunker Gris porcelain tile as the surround. The tile has a cast-concrete effect which worked well with a few of the industrial inspired elements in the home.
